Most model license trouble starts with one clause nobody checked. ShipSafe Filter is the free checker we built for exactly that moment: set the constraints your product actually has, and it tests all 200 open models in the LocalAITools dataset against every one of them, then shows which models clear all of them and which miss by exactly one.
There are six constraints. Commercial use is always on, because the other five make little sense without it. Then: can ship in a closed, proprietary product; fine-tuning and modification allowed; no attribution required; no user-count cap; redistribution of the weights allowed. A seventh, optional input is your expected monthly users. Fill it in and a model is excluded when its recorded cap sits below your number, with the cap stated on the result.

How to run your first check
- Switch on the constraints your product genuinely has, not the ones you wish it had.
- Add your expected monthly users if growth is part of the plan.
- Press Apply filter and read both lists: the clears, and the near misses that fail exactly one constraint.
- Open any model's restriction note before you fall in love with it. 89 of the 200 models carry one.
Two filter runs a day are free on your connection; after that, an email unlocks unlimited runs for the rest of the day. The dataset behind the filter is the same one behind our Apache 2.0 vs MIT explainer and the commercial use shortlist, and the checker apps roundup covers the other ways people do this check. Picking the framework to run the model comes next: the FrameworkPicker at LocalAIAgents ranks agent frameworks, and the license texts themselves live at the Open Source Initiative. Run the check before the demo becomes a product: open the ShipSafe Filter.
